CLAREMONT AYSO VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
Our priority is to provide a positive, quality and most importantly safe environment for every child participating in Claremont AYSO. In order to do this all of our volunteers need to adhere to AYSO National and City of Claremont requirements.
Claremont AYSO is run entirely by volunteers. We encourage everyone to do his or her share as we need plenty of help! There are jobs for everyone! Every family is expected to volunteer in some way.
Below are the minimum requirements to become an AYSO volunteer. All requirements must be complete before participating in any practices, games or other AYSO event that includes the participation of players.
REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER - Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Referees, Team Parents, Board Members
-
Requirement– Update and resubmit yearly.
-
How do I register as a volunteer? Go to eayso.org to register. If you have previously registered then you will need to go in and update your form. You will be required to enter your Social Security and Driver’s License numbers. These are only accessible by AYSO National. When you print your forms this information will not print, nor will anyone in the Claremont AYSO organization have access to it. IMPORTANT - Print out two copies, sign both and turn them in with a copy of your driver’s license to your commissioner or our CVPA. This must be done to complete your registration.
-
Why register as a volunteer? This registration puts you into the AYSO National system and will insure that you are covered by the AYSO insurance. AYSO National also conducts background checks on volunteers.
SAFE HAVEN CERTIFICATION - Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Referees, Team Parents, Board Members
- Requirement– must be retaken online every two years
- What is Safe Haven? – AYSO National requires that this online course be completed by all AYSO volunteers prior to having contact with players.
- How do I complete the Safe Haven Course? You must be a registered volunteer and know your AYSO ID number to complete the course. This is available through the eayso.org registration website. If you are a newly registered volunteer our regional CVPA can email you your ID number once your application is processed. Next, log on and take the course www.aysotraining.org. It will take about 35 minutes.
- What’s next? Once completed you should print out your certification and let your commissioner or team coach know you’ve completed this requirement.
LIVESCAN BACKGROUND CHECK – Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Board Members
- Requirement- You will only need to do this once and the check is automatically renewed with every season.
- What is a LiveScan? Fingerprints are taken and submitted to the Department of Justice.
- Why is this required? The City of Claremont requires that all volunteers working within youth organizations complete a LiveScan background check.
- How do I complete a LiveScan? This can be done at the Claremont Police Department by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling 909-399-5411. Advise the clerk that you are an AYSO volunteer so your background check comes back to us and you will not be charged. You will need to download the LIVESCAN form, fill it out and take it with you to your appointment.
All results of the LiveScan or AYSO background checks are completely confidential. Only our Regional CVPA will be advised if a negative status should arise. The CVPA will then, confidentially, inform the volunteer.
